A few months ago I signed on to a side project with great potential. It would provide me the opportunity to stretch my understanding of WordPress and build some really cool features. Such an exciting opportunity.
There was one catch: It needed to be a rush job.
First, let me say that I think that side work can be a great way to open yourself up to new ideas, new techniques, and generally avoid tunnel vision in your perspective. I do not regret accepting side work, rather I regret allowing myself to be rushed.
Rushed work is just what you would expect, rushed.
